Assata Renay is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. Music danced through her roots starting with her late grandfather who was a blues guitarist. The musical lineage doesn’t stop there! Assata’s mother and father both settled into careers in the music industry as well.
Assata’s sound can be described as alternative Rhythm & Blues, blending both harmonies and emotions to create the unique sound that she takes pride in calling her own. Whether it’s experiencing a live show or listening to a record you will be taken on a journey of everyday life situations through the eyes of a NOLA girl.
